Application & construction
Type SJOW / SJOOW flexible cords are permitted for use by Article 400 and related articles of the National Electrical Code. Typical uses include wiring for portable tools, portable appliances, equipment, small motors and associated machinery.
Structure
- Conductor — Fully annealed, stranded bare copper, per ASTM B-174, sizes 18–2 AWG
- Insulation — Ethylene-propylene rubber (EPR) — 1 core black; 2 cores black/white; 3 cores black/white/green; 4 cores black/white/green/red; 5 cores black/white/green/red/orange
- Jacket — Black heavy duty CPE thermosetting compound
