Overview

Application & construction

Type SOW / SOOW flexible cords are permitted for use by Article 400 and related articles of the National Electrical Code. SOOW / SOW cords are designed for extra hard usage on industrial equipment, heavy tools, battery chargers, portable lights and power extensions. They are sunlight, water, oil and weather resistant and suitable for outdoor applications.

Structure

Conductor — Fully annealed, stranded bare copper, per ASTM B-174, sizes 18–2 AWG
Insulation — Ethylene-propylene rubber (EPR) — 1 core black; 2 cores black/white; 3 cores black/white/green; 4 cores black/white/green/red; 5 cores black/white/green/red/orange
Jacket — Black heavy duty CPE thermosetting compound
